2016 DALLAS SOUTHERN PRIDE - "Celebrating All Black Lives!"
When it comes to building momentum around sisterhood, there are events, conversations and activities for women and by women.
In 2016, Dallas Southern Pride will host its 2nd Annual Juneteenth Festival with events planned from 3:00PM - 11:00PM on June 18, 2016. Be sure to check back on our site regularly leading up to the day for up-to-date flyers and event information. We want to take some time and honor the contributions of the sisters whose names are unspoken but played a critical role in our journey to freedom as African Americans. The women who cooked the meals, toiled the land, raised the children and even served in the slave master's house, with a hope and knowing that freedom would come one day. We stand on the shoulders of Black women, both straight and same gender loving who worked side-by-side for us to live in this moment. Before the music stops, the smiles turn to frowns and night falls bringing Juneteenth 2016 to an end, let us pause to remember from which we came and embark upon a journey towards a stronger sisterhood and family.
